See What Your Child Can Create…

Students who are enrolled for the full school year gain experience in a wide range of sewing skills. Each project builds on the last, allowing students to progress steadily and gain confidence as they complete more advanced techniques.

Afterschool Class Times:

Homeschool Class Times:

  • We accept funds from Blue Ridge, Suncoast, Ilead, and Sky Mountain.
If paying with charter funds you’ll need to enter your credit card, but you’ll select “paying with charter” and you will not be charged at checkout! Then make sure you request a Purchase Order or Enrichment Certificate from your charter school at the same time as registering! That way we receive it before your first class.

If you ever switch from using charter funds to paying directly with a credit card, you must notify us in writing (by email or Parent Portal message). This allows us to update your payment settings on our end, so the payment is processed correctly.

Everything that’s included:

(so you don’t have to buy supplies!)

  • A dedicated sewing machine for class. Their own workstation and sewing machine so they can build independence as they grow, while having hands on guidance close by.

  • All fabric, thread, zippers, buttons, yarn etc. This is the big one! We wanted to make it as easy as possible for parents, so we have decided to include fabric and all accessories (notions). This is a huge value as local craft stores can be expensive. (Each projects materials cost $20-$75)

  • All the tools needed to learn and create hundreds of projects. Rulers, seam allowance guides, 4 kinds of scissors, pins, clips, taylors chalk, seam ripper, iron, you name it!

  • Sewing Patterns and Instructions. We have a huge library of sewing patterns your child will work through. Each pattern is designed specifically to be beginner friendly. They usually use about 1-2 patterns a month. ($20 value per pattern).

  • Professional Dress Forms to explore fashion technique. Each month we have a “draping” challenge to get creativity flowing! Each child gets their own dress form (mannequin) to let out our inner fashion designer and learn about different clothing elements and their terminology.

  • A list of sewing machine recommendations. When youre ready to purchase your own sewing machine we provide recommended sewing machines for all price ranges, from hobby to professional (online options or in person)

  • Designated Storage Space for each student. Students can leave their binder/patterns and half finished projects at the studio in their cubby, so nothing gets left at home accidently!

Sewing Classes

“My goal is to teach all the students two things: How to use a sewing machine and how to read a sewing pattern.”

This gives them the freedom to choose any project they want in the future. They can take this skill into any stage of life and once you have the basics - you can go in any direction!

Why Parents Love Our Classes…

  • If you are a brand new student you will start by attending the beginners workshop. This makes sure each student learns the proper safety and basics of using the sewing machine.

Once you completed the workshop, you can register for our weekly classes. As soon as you register you may attend your weekly class! Upon signing up you will be prorated for how ever many classes are left in the month.

The weekly classes run from Aug/Sept to June. Our program is designed as a continuous journey, with each project building on the last. While monthly payments keep it flexible, we recommend enrolling for the school year to fully develop skills and confidence in sewing’s unique learning curve.

You may cancel at any time; however, you must notify us by the 20th of the month prior to your intended withdrawal date. Students who withdraw before the end of the school year may not complete their current project. We try our best to help students finish and take projects home within a specific timeline, but this is not always guaranteed and depends on each student’s pace and learning style. Sewing is an art, not a science — and every student’s journey is a little different!

  • As sewing is a complicated skill to learn we want to make sure the students stay focused. When parents/guardians are present, children tend to be more distracted. You are welcome to check in on your child, but we encourage the students to take the class independently. We also don't have any seating for parents to hang out at our current location.

  • Tuition is charged on the 1st of each month and saves your child’s spot in class, just like a membership. To keep things simple and predictable, tuition stays the same each month — even though some months may have more classes and others less. Tuition is not based on attendance and isn’t prorated for missed classes.

If you need to withdraw, please let us know by the 20th of the month prior to avoid being charged for the upcoming month.

  • Unfortunately, we cannot bring outside machines into class for a variety of reason. There are two types of sewing machines: computerized and mechanical. Our curriculum is designed with a computerized machine in mind. Each machine has a slightly different method for techniques such as buttonholes or backstitching. We teach our students on computerized sewing machines which we think is easiest for beginners. Ages 8-9 are a bit more hesitant about trying out their skills on their home machine if its different, but usually by age 10 they start to understand all sewing machines work similarly!
Also, if you've had a machine for over a year or its a hand me down it often needs to be serviced (just like a car sitting around). We can recommend a local spot if you wish to service your machine :)

  • No, everything is provided! Sewing machine, thread, fabric, zippers, elastic and all tools are ready for your student to use.

  • After you are enrolled in a class, you will be able to use the Parent Portal. You will create a Parent Portal account by entering the email address and portal password that you provided at registration time. If it is your first time visiting your portal and you do not remember your password, click Forgot your password. A password will be sent to the email address you have on file with us. Use that to log in to your account. From there you can change your password–just make sure it has a minimum of 5 characters.

  • This is an ongoing class. Class runs from Aug/Sept - June, but you can join at anytime. Classes end at the end of the school year when we switch to summer camps! Each class is 1hr 15 mins (75 mins).

Students who withdraw before the end of the school year may not complete their current project. We try our best to help students finish and take projects home within a specific timeline, but this is not always guaranteed and depends on each student’s pace and learning style. Sewing is an art, not a science — and every student’s journey is a little different!

  • If your student can thread a sewing machine, wind a bobbin by themselves, and follow a basic seam allowance then they do not have to take the beginners class. Please contact us at info@fabrictofashionsewingschool.com about registering for class.

  • Fabric to Fashion Sewing School provides a dedicated sewing machine for use at the studio. When you’re ready to buy your own sewing machine, we can provide a list of recommendations so you don’t lose your mind down the amazon rabbit hole choosing a machine out of hundreds :)

A Word From the Owner:

I always wanted to learn how to make my own clothes. I bought a bunch of books and fabric and then… I quit twice. It always got too confusing!

It was frustrating starting out alone. Thankfully I found the right resources to get me on track and began to teach myself bit by bit. Then eventually taking college classes in fashion design, pattern making, and alterations to expand on my knowledge.

I started this class because I believe “creating something out of nothing” is one of the most valuable skills you can have. It isn’t always easy, but I promise you will feel like a champion once you complete your first few projects. Sewing teaches you grit, patience, and the reward of finishing something that’s all yours! Easily the most rewarding journey.
